So I didn't set my alarm (or did I?), I got up late (or did I?), I ran into traffic (or did I?) but it's not my fault because you really should have told me that there would be a test (or did you?).

Dr. Adjunct,
This past Wednesday I missed class and did not know there was an exam. I have not been checking the syllabus for the assignments because I was assuming the class would be reminded when the first exam would come up. I missed class because I woke up late. It's unusual for me to do this, but having 8 AM classes Monday through Thursday and working right after my last class until 6 or 7 PM put me in this position. Although I believed I'd be able to handle it, I've been losing some sleep and unless I set my alarm, which I have been doing, I won't wake up. I had twenty minutes until class started Wednesday, but with the traffic of the ___ (2 interstates) merge in ___ (city less than 5 miles from campus), I knew I'd be late. I apologize for my mistake and I understand the syllabus says exams cannot be made up, but I was hoping that you could understand my situation and allow me to make it up. My other professors have notified the class when an exam was coming up already, so I just took the assumption that you would do the same. I apologize again for misunderstanding and would appreciate some kind of make-up.
Thank you,
Undergraduate
